Terms and Conditions

1. All gatherings of 25 persons or more must be registered and approved by the Residence Life Staff Member prior to hosting a social gathering.  Social gatherings can only be held and registered on Friday and Saturday nights.  No Kegs are allowed.  Registration forms may only be submitted between Monday at 9:00 AM and Wednesday at 12:00 noon for a party that same week (Friday or Saturday). We do not register parties more than one week in advance. Applications submitted outside of that time frame will not be considered for approval.

2.  All residents of the apartment/Mod must complete their Eagle ID numbers in order to submit this Social Gathering Form.  Only residents/guests of legal drinking age and residents of the hosting apartment (under 21) may be present at the gathering. Consumption of alcohol at a social gathering and serving alcohol is restricted to people 21 years and older. It is the responsibility of those signing the social gathering form to ensure that the laws regulating the serving and consumption of alcohol by minors is adhered to. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.

3. State law prohibits the transportation of alcohol in excess of the following quantities: 7 cases of beer; or 3 gallons of any other alcoholic beverage. Transporting quantities in excess of the legal limit will be subject to confiscation, as well as University action and/or arrest. All parties transporting alcohol must be 21 years old.

4. Authorized social gatherings must begin after 8:00pm and end at 1:30am. All music, entertainment and distribution of alcohol must end at 1:30am. Guests must vacate the apartment at 1:30am. The University reserves the right to extend or limit the number of authorized social gatherings on any given night. Approval for gatherings will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Social gatherings will not be authorized on nights or days of home football games, or Thursdays and Sundays of extended/holiday weekends.

5. Persons hosting a social gathering are responsible for all guests and any resulting problems from the behavior of their guests. All costs associated with the repair of apartment/Mod or surrounding area of the party will be the responsibility of all residents of the apartment/Mod if individual culpability cannot be determined.

6. Registered social gatherings serving alcohol may be authorized in the Modular Apartments, Gabelli Hall, Voute Hall, Ignacio Hall, Rubenstein Hall and Edmond's Hall, 110 STM (where a minimum of half the residents of the apartment are of legal drinking age and members of the Senior class year. Party Registration is a Senior privilege).

7. Any kegs found on campus will be confiscated and the sponsors will be subject to disciplinary action. Kegs at registered social gatherings are subject to confiscation as well. All other Central Sources are also prohibited as mandated by the Office of Residential Life's Conditions for Residency.

8. Residence Life Staff members must be allowed access to any apartment/Mod sponsoring a social gathering at all times. These staff members have the authority to direct the occupants of the apartment to close down a social gathering when sponsors and/or their guests do not adhere to the guidelines.

9. Sponsors must keep doors closed and maintain control of those entering and leaving the apartment/Mod. Open containers of alcoholic beverages are not allowed in hallways, stairwells, lounges, common areas, backyards, Mod patios and front steps or outside the residence hall/modular apartment. For the safety and well being of those attending the party, and to control noise, all windows must he kept closed. Non-alcoholic beverages and food must be served whenever alcoholic beverages are served.

10. Violation of any part of the Social Gathering Terms and Conditions, Boston College guidelines or Commonwealth of Massachusetts's laws may result in official University sanctions. Internal action does not preclude external action in the courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Falsification of registration information will result in denial of the event and possible future events and may result in judicial sanctions. Any special circumstances not listed in the above guidelines are subject to the discretion of the Assistant Director of Residential Life.
